A Novel Design of an UWB PIFA Array Antenna for Medical Applications

This work depicts a novel design of an array of two element Planar inverted-F antenna intended for biomedical applications in ISM band. The simulated result of the designed antenna exhibits high impedance matching with 47.33% impedance bandwidth and a peak gain of 2.53 dB. The proposed antenna may h...

Summary:This work depicts a novel design of an array of two element Planar inverted-F antenna intended for biomedical applications in ISM band. The simulated result of the designed antenna exhibits high impedance matching with 47.33% impedance bandwidth and a peak gain of 2.53 dB. The proposed antenna may have a potential application as a biosensor for real-time glucose monitoring. Different concentration of glucose in blood when in contact of the proposed antenna, impacts the dielectric properties and induce a relative change in its resonant frequency.
