Summary:The dynamical performance of chaotic maps is severely degraded when implemented in the digital domain, and impacting their applications in cryptographic algorithms negatively. In order to address the weakness of digital chaotic maps, a chaotification method by cascading the two-dimensional chaotic map with logistic map is presented in this paper. Compared with the original chaotic maps and the other existing two-dimensional chaotic map, the proposed chaotic maps have a wider chaotic range of control parameters, better randomness and extended cycle length. Finally, an application of chaotic maps in designing pseudorandom number generator is proposed to show the obtained chaotic sequences can pass the NIST SP800-22 randomness test successfully.
