Summary:This article examines the academic area, research subjects, and development progression of current ChatGPT research using the Web of Science (WoS) database and the visual bibliometric program CiteSpace. It has been discovered that ChatGPT has received a significant amount of attention from the academic community since its introduction, and studies on ChatGPT have focused on the issues of "technical optimization," "practical application," and "ethical risks," which have obvious similarities and correlations. Combining the phases of ChatGPT research might help to understand the research landscape and the evolution of ChatGPT, and future ChatGPT research should continue to broaden research perspectives, update research procedures, and improve communication and collaboration.
