Summary:The dynamics of TCP under a variety of conditions is well understood. Nonetheless, users requiring a certain level of TCP performance should run benchmarks in order to verify the amount of throughput they are able to achieve. When on a network, such as a cloud provider or even mobile network, you are often charged by the amount of data transferred over the network. In this paper, we propose the addition of confidence intervals to throughput testing tools as a method of decreasing the network transfer costs by means of automatic early stopping. We show that this allows us to still get quality measurements and minimize the amount of time and data these measurements consume.
