Summary:The Predator-Prey model is a concept adopted from ecological systems where one species a predator feeds from another prey. This affects the population densities of the two species as this can be determined using Lotka- Volterra equations, which help classify the population systems as competition, cooperation, and predator-prey. Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) Networks exhibit properties of ecological systems, as smart users compete with incumbent users for access network resources. This research seeks to model the channel allocation and energy consumption of users in an LAA network using an ecological approach with two predators and one prey species combined with a genetic algorithm. Results show that both channel occupancy and energy consumption are improved when compared to the traditional predator-prey model.
