Summary:In the agriculture sector, determining the grain quality poses a substantial difficulty. As food products are classified and graded into different grades based on their quality parameters after harvesting, quality control is essential in the food industry. The manual assessment of grain quality is a time-consuming and expensive operation with relative and variable outcomes. The employment of image processing algorithms as an alternate technique for assessing the grain quality can assist get beyond the drawbacks of existing techniques. Usually, rice's standard is judged based on both its physical and chemical characteristics. The borders of each grain have been identified using edge detection techniques, allowing for the determination of its length and breadth.
