Summary:The smart-grid communication network handles the smart energy metering applications. The proposed antenna resonates at triple band incorporating Wireless Energy Meter, LR-WPAN WLAN and WiMAX communication applications. The planar dimensions of the resonator is 50x33 m2. The resonator is designed on low cost FR-4 laminates and design exploits the standard laptop dimensions. The depth of the laminate is 1.56 mm. Designed monopole resonator has resonance at 868 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 3.6 GHz. The resonator bandwidth is 1.15%, 2.08%, and 1.91%. The Europe smartgrid utilizes 868 MHz band for data transmission over the grid network for handling energy meter data logs along. The frequency is able to support low rate wireless personal area network along with RFID applications. The 2.4 GHz supports unlicensed communication services across the globe and WiMAX communication is supported at 3.6 GHz frequency band.
