Summary:For centuries, fabrics have been a staple in human life, primarily as clothing materials. However, their role has evolved into versatile materials with innovative applications in textile-based electronics, including fashion technology, smart fabrics, and interactive textiles. Furthermore, fabrics can function as electromagnetic (EM) wave-absorbing, and wave-transparent materials. This paper reports findings from transmission measurements using a THz-TDS and THz-FDS setup in the 100 to 1000 GHz frequency range. Diverse fabrics, including natural, synthetic, and blended fibers are examined. Initially, the refractive indices are derived from the THz-TDS and THz-FDS measurements. These data are then used to derive Fresnel transmission coefficients. The results provide valuable insights into the interaction of fabrics with electromagnetic waves, contributing to various technical applications, particularly within the biomedical industry and security checks.
