Summary:Over the last decades, we have seen an increased need for flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) especially in mobile, wearable, and medical devices industry. Recently additional applications and technologies have emerged e.g. stretchable and conformable electronics. Especially stretchable electronics have recently gained increasing interest for a wide range of applications. They are ideally suited for the distribution of sensors over large areas - e.g. in industrial electronics. In this article, stretchable modules for sensor integration on large surfaces for avionics will be presented together with different interconnection, encapsulation and embedding technologies. The methodology to develop models and to simulate different load situations will be described and the correlation to actual reliability test results will be investigated.
