Summary:Modern power systems with high penetration of renewable energy enrich the frequency regulation resources by offering more new clean wind and solar energy. In this paper, we present a bottom-top design of wind park's participation in the frequency regulation market considering the complementarity of wind park power outputs. By defining a quantitative complementarity index, we show how the complementarity contributes to the regulation reserve reliability of wind parks and the consistent market performance, and verify the conclusions via numerical analysis.
