Summary:The reliability evaluation of the power converter in dual switched reluctance motor (SRM) can predict the lifetime of the device and take preventive measures to fix the failure, thereby improving the lifetime and reliability of the system. A Markov model is proposed for reliability evaluation of power converters in dual SRM. Firstly, the modelling process and solution method are illustrated. Then, to improve the accuracy of the reliability evaluation, a new failure criterion is proposed to determine the failure state of the system and the Markov chain. In addition, a failure state simplification method is proposed in order to reduce the number of failure states and the computational effort in the Markov model. Finally, the validity of the reliability assessment method is verified by simulation and experiment.
