Summary:This article is devoted to the research of the applicability of rectangular-shaped volutes for pumps of various parameters as a part of research devoted to applicability of various shaped volutes in centrifugal pumps. Velocities of different impellers were calculated. Models of rectangularshaped, pear-shaped and round-shaped volutes for different pumps have been created based on conservation of angular momentum methods, hydraulic effectiveness of volute shapes were rated with or without diffusion chamber. Effectiveness of each volute was illustrated by velocity streamlines and graphs of relative pressure in each calculated sections of the volute casing.
