Summary:At the thermal power station level, the biggest amount of water is used as a cooling agent. The vulnerability of the energy sector towards the availability of water is a pressing issue and the measures taken in order to deal with this challenge or to diminish it are not clearly stated yet. The problem is that the water treatment systems that are used in thermal power stations are great users of energy. This paper aims to analyze the connection between the hydraulic characteristics and energy at the level of the whole water treatment network inside a thermal power station (CET). Simulations and mathematical modelling have been conducted through the EPANET program for several cases of the power network. The obtained results showed that the velocity of the water through the pipes varies between 0.32-2.08 [m/s] and the total pressure loss on the network had values between 0.203-1.119 [bar]. For the analyzed case, the total power consumption was 318.77 [kW] per day.
