Summary:Pumped storage power stations use GIS equipment in large numbers due to the constraints of their construction environment. Fully enclosed SF6 gas insulated substation (GIS) has the advantages of compact structure, small footprint, reliable operation, good closure and small maintenance workload. However, the compact structure of GIS equipment will expand the impact of overvoltage on the equipment, which in turn will endanger the safety of the equipment. In this paper, we use ATP-EMTP to simulate the 500kV pumped storage power station in the presence of lightning current and the generation of very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO). As a result, reference is provided for overvoltage suppression measures.
