Summary:The research develops a methodology to size the battery pack and the electric motor for a Battery Electric Vehicle considering vehicle dynamics parameters, different main characteristics, Battery-to-Wheel efficiency, and performance according to specific driving cycles. These parameters allow to obtain a simulation tool developed from scratch where the simulations were used in three case studies: an Electric Urban Bus, an Autonomous Vehicle, and a Retrofit where different commercial equipment is shown as options. The results display simulations for the selection of commercial equipment and recommendations based on the designer's various criteria.
