Summary:In this article, a simple microstrip patch with circular slot antenna is simulated, and analyzed for a Sub-6 GHz frequency of 5G applications. The suggested antenna is made with a straightforward circular slot patch, defected ground with L shaped slot and a modified feedline designed on a low-cost duriod substrate (εr = 2.2, tanδ = 0.0009). The presented antenna is having -10dB impedance bandwidth of 2.54 - 4.36 GHz which covers n77 (3.3-4.2 GHz), n78 (3.3-3.8 GHz) band communication bands of Sub-6 GHz. The 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 3.40-3.46 GHz is achieved in the proposed design. Circular polarization (CP) is obtained by etching the L-shaped slot in the ground plane and truncation of the patch. Surface current distribution is used to explained the circular polarisation. The findings of the proposed model make it a suitable contender for 5G applications.
