Summary:The unity power factor is attained when both the displacement and distortion factors are unity by having a sinusoidal current waveform that is in phase with the line voltage. This paper proposes using Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC) to achieve a unity power factor in three-phase induction motor drive applications. Cascade controller loops are used to monitor and control the converter current and the voltage. The proposed control technique is evaluated under different operational conditions, where the dc converter voltage and load are varied. The simulation results show that the unity power factor operation of the boost converter for the induction motor has a fast response and good dynamic performance.
