Summary:A bow-tie slot antenna with (SIW) Substrate Integrated Waveguide and periodic parasitic patches to improve gain and bandwidth is presented. The presented antenna structure is 0.74 λ 0 x 1.09 λ 0 x 0.028 λ 0 in size. The conventional slot antenna has bidirectional radiation pattern, this bidirectional radiation pattern becomes unidirectional by incorporating SIW structure. By placing periodic patches at the bottom of the antenna it refines gain and bandwidth. The presented antenna exhibits bandwidth of 0.85 GHz (9.128 GHz - 9.178 GHz), moderate gain of 7.79 dBi is obtained. The resonance frequency of antenna is 9.55 GHz having a return loss of -27.22 dB. The simulation of the Antenna is done using HFSS 19.1 software which has flat gain response making it suitable for X band application.
