Summary:This paper present a compact modified Y-shape parasitic patch with defected ground structure. The ground is defected by rectangular slot and half Y-strip is attached with ground due to which the structure of proposed antenna is compact in size of 28\times 28\text{mm}^{2}\ (0.3\lambda\times 0.3\lambda) . The antenna is excited by E-shape microstrip feedline. Half of the Y-strip and vertical rectangular strip are attached as parasitic patch into radiator due to which the proposed antenna giving best performance in (2.94-9.5)GHz band with 105% impedance bandwidth, peak gain of 5.8dB and bidirectional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna perform in high range of frequency band which shows the proposed antenna is applicable for UWB applications.
