Summary:SIW phase shifter plays an important role in SIW microwave system. By employing a length of HMSIW into SIW transmission line, the original TE 1,0 mode is converted into TE 0.5,0 mode so as to realize phase shift, which provides a new way for design of SIW phase shifter. A 90° phase shifter is designed by analyzing waveguide wavelengths in two modes to determine the length of phase-shift segment. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed phase shifter has phase shift within 90°±15° ranging from 9.1GHz to 11.3GHz, with relative bandwidth of 21.6%, which verifies the effectiveness of the design. It has advantages of simple structure, convenient design and low fluctuation relative to equal-length unequal-width phase shifter, which make it can be widely used in microwave and millimeter wave systems.
