Summary: | Power sector has encountered many technical issues both expected and unexpected till date. Line breakage in feeder and distributor line is one such major problem in power sector. This paper describes the new methodology to cater to this dangerous problem. The proposed system will have two control units; one is kept at the pole ends and the other at the distribution transformer. The voltage is checked in the line and if it is found to be below the threshold value, the control unit near the corresponding pole end will detect breakage and send an 'ALERT' message to the control unit linked to the distributor transformer. Immediately, the distributor transformer side power supply is cut off by opening the circuit breaker. At the same time an 'OPEN CIRCUIT FAULT' message will be sent to the Electricity Board (EB).After rectification, a 'RESET' message is sent to the control unit near the distributor transformer. This will reset the distributor transformer side circuit breaker to closed position and thus the power supply is turned on. By doing so, we detect the line breakage and thus preventing the electrocution of man and animals. |
