Summary:Our circumstances have been drastically changed; staying home and remote working due to the Corona pandemic and so rapid aging of ourselves have kept us longer than ever in home. Realizing actual smart/intelligent circumstances that are safe, secure, convenient, comfortable, efficient and green even in home or office, is an urgent topic for individuals and governments. Advances in ICT might help to create such a good solution. This paper overviews several perspectives on home networking focusing on the current lower layer functionality in the standardization activities, and some technical issues still need to realize an actual tailored environment, home networking as a service (HNaaS) with the author's viewpoints. Capacity of the home network and functional allocation of the network, together with possible use of optical technologies in the network, are discussed. The home networking is coming soon.
