Summary:Reflectarray aperture efficiency (h a ) is usually analyzed first to predict the performance of a reflectarray antenna. Aperture efficiency is dependent on spillover efficiency (h s ) and illumination efficiency (h i ) which in fact is a function of the f by D ratio, where 'f' is the distance between the feed and reflectarray, and 'D' is the length of the reflectarray antenna. In this paper we take a numerical approach to accurately estimate the aperture efficiency for varying f/D and comparing with an existing analytical solution. The full-wave analysis of the reflectarray proves that the aperture efficiency obtained from the numerical approach is more accurate than the analytical solution. Furthermore, we discuss about intuitively modifying the input parameters of the analytical solution to accurately estimate the aperture efficiency.
