Summary: | This paper describes the concept of a 5G milli-meter-wave 4-port Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna array. Rectangular slotted patch antennas make up the upper 2 x 2 array elements, while a combination of circular and quadrangular slots in the ground plane creates a defective ground structure (DGS). The proposed multiband MIMO antenna resonates at multiple frequencies of 20 GHz, 37 GHz, 53 GHz and 62 GHz. As a means of achieving excellent isolation between antenna modules, orthogonal polarization diversity is used to separate neighbouring antennas. This MIMO antenna provides adequate gain (>3.6 dBi), and excellent envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) with good isolation (≥15 dB) for the complete operating band. Moreover, EDG and MEG were computed and found to be within realistically acceptable values in order to guarantee the proposed MIMO Antenna's performance. |
