Summary: | Mines / Vertical tunnel fall detection and prevention system presented in this paper is a proactive approach which is used to detect and prevent the occurrence of accidents at the abandoned mines or uncapped vertical tunnel which are left open. In the proposed work, a prototype model based on the communication using Infra-Red (IR) signal sensing is discussed. The IR sensor continuously transmits and receives the signal in the Line of Sight (LOS) path. When this LOS path of the signal from the sensors breaks due to the interference of any object or a person, the microcontroller sends an alert message via GSM and simultaneously warning is provided through alarm and red light. The metal plate kept at the mine hole closes the hole in order to prevent the victim from falling deeper into the hole using gear mechanism. The solution presented in this paper is very effective, easily scalable and highly reliable by the use of IR radiations. |
