Summary:This paper presents the method for the identification of synchronous generator parameters during the short-circuit from no-load operation mode. The armature phase current is measured and afterward used to extract some of the unknown parameters. The mathematical derivation of the armature current during the short circuit from the no-load operation mode is derived from the well-known mathematical model of the synchronous generator which is based on Park's transformations. Precisely, the mathematical formulation is expressed with the operational transfer functions in the Laplace domain, which consist of the unknown generator parameters. The determination of the parameters, based on the measured operational data, is carried out using popular computational intelligence, or metaheuristic algorithm.
