Summary:This paper considers a bilateral tele-rehabilitation system with FES (Functional electrical stimulation) using communication via the web server. To allow physical therapists and patients to communicate anywhere, the web communication using HTTP (Hypertext transfer protocol) is suitable than the socket communication using UDP (User datagram protocol). We propose to communicate between a physical therapist and a patient via the server with Node.js, because Node.js is non-blocking I/O and allows JavaScript. The control experiment is implemented by using the web server with Node.js to verify the control performance and the communication time.
