Summary:A novel chimie douce synthetic approach based on the gel to crystallite conversion (G-C) method has been developed to prepare nanosized strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ) powders. The influence of synthesis parameters such as concentration of NH3, annealing temperature and duration of annealing on the phase purity and physical properties of synthesis product was investigated. The obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopes and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The optical properties of synthesized strontium titanate samples were also investigated.
