Summary:This paper elaborates on the structure and analysis of a novel gate driver circuit for an application of a single-phase five-level inverter system using IGBTs. The proposed technology contains a single-phase five-level inverter system with a novel isolated square wave gate driver for turning ON or OFF of IGBTs and MOSFETs. A six-channel gate driver is used in this topology where each circuit is provided with TLP250 optocoupler to get high output peak rating current to turn the switches On or Off. The design control algorithm for the operation of this single-phase five-level inverter application runs on an Arduino mega2560 microcontroller kit. The Arduino mega2560 microcontroller kit is used to generate the six-channel pulse with modulation of the scheme, with the frequency range about 2kHz.
