Summary:This work presents a device created to test the performance characteristics of the different materials from which the gaskets are formed to seal the joints of the pipes in low pressure gas distribution systems. This device measures the pressure of gas and mechanical pressure that joint holds before it fails and causes a gas leak. To perform this test, nitrogen is used as a circulation gas, introducing it into the system to generate a pressure in the joint. As a result of this test, the maximum strength of the gasket is obtained according to the material that the seal was made to guarantee the operation of the gaskets in accordance with the requirements of the international operating standards for gas distribution.
