Summary:Thermal management of the passenger compartment is an important issue for electric vehicles. This paper summarizes current heating and cooling techniques proposed for the car cabin of electric vehicles, which are categorized as the vapor compression refrigeration with electric heating system, the heat pump system and other systems. The advantages and challenges of each system are discussed in detail. Application samples are also provided at the end for better understanding of air conditioning thermal management techniques used in the current market.
