Summary:The equivalent circuit battery models have been used in many applications, being used mainly in applications involving battery management systems. In this bstudy, the first, second and third order Thevenin models for a single cell sodium-nickel chloride battery were implemented. A pulse discharge test was conducted, and the parameters were estimated using the non-linear least squares method. In the results a comparison of the accuracy between the three models at the pulse discharge test is presented. In general, the direct ratio between the degree of the model and the decrease of the mean error is verified. However, an analysis evaluating the balance between accuracy and computational effort may indicate models with lower grade as the best option for some applications.
