Summary:This article come up with the compensation of power quality problems in a distribution system by providing Instantaneous Symmetrical Component Theory (ISCT) based hysteresis control scheme for Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) in Voltage Control Mode (VCM). The proposed scheme generates reference currents by considering instantaneous values of zero, positive and negative sequence components of load currents. The capability of the proposed controller is verified underbalanced and unbalanced, linear and nonlinear conditions in PSCAD/EMTDC platform and the performance is found satisfactory.
