Summary:In this paper, an exposure evaluation method for digital radiographic images is presented. By applying entropy theory into the tested images, the exposure setting of the radiography system is assessed according to the abundance of local pixels' information. The experiment is applied using a metal blade through radiography testing. The evaluation process is based on multiple-voltage exposure images of the tested blade to analyze the variation of global entropy. Through the experimental result, the image with optimal quality is selected by the presented method. The processed images are validated with CNR indicated by ASTM standard, and the radial distortion is also verified with four reference steel balls.
