Summary:This study, it is aimed to make a service sector application of sustainable scheduling approaches. In this context, the flight scheduling problem in flight academies has been addressed and a mathematical model has been introduced to solve this problem, considering economic, environmental, and social constraints. The aviation industry has a structure that is not fault-tolerant due to its characteristics and considers human factors, in addition to civil aviation rules. All these reasons complicate the flight scheduling problem in the aviation industry. In addition, the inclusion of pilot candidates on training flights make the human factor even more important and involves the need to put a schedule that considers social constraints. Considering all these, the problem examined aims to create a sustainable schedule considering social constraints (ergonomic conditions, mental conditions, etc.) caused by human factors in addition to the classical flight scheduling problem. The proposed approach is applied to a sample case in a flight academy and the results are presented.
