Summary: | The water absorption behavior of organic nanofillers in polymeric composites at different temperatures has been explored in this chapter. Polymer nano-composites are well defined as the combination of a polymer matrix and nano-sized reinforcements. FRP composites are progressively substituting for the conventional metallic materials in nearly all areas of applications. However, the properties and performance of these materials and their effects on environmental sensitivity are severe concerns for the material scientists and technologists. This chapter highlights the incorporation of the various inorganic nanofillers such as SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, SiC, CaCO3, BN, and the combination of the different inorganic nanofillers in water and different temperature environments have been discussed. Basically, the mechanical behavior of the fibrous reinforced polymeric (FRP) composites and the water uptake kinetic behavior of the composites have been elaborated. In addition to that, some fractography of the failed specimens were also presented. |
