Summary: | This chapter describes special machines that have been designed for emplacements of liners. Some of the measurement methods required the invention and fabrication of devices not normally available. Several devices were developed for measurement of water table depths through slender tubing as required for FLUTe MLS systems. The theory of air coupled measurements is described as it is used to deduce water table depths and water table histories at each port. Some eversion aids are described.
This chapter describes special machines that have been designed for emplacements of liners. Some of the measurement methods required the invention and fabrication of devices not normally available. An extreme water-level change does occur more often when a large pump is turned on in a nearby well. The ACT method uses a transducer of high resolution sealed to the top of the tube. ACTs are often used with WF MLS installations. The correction of the effect of a barometric pressure increase is to increase the pressure in the ACT air tube to provide the same effect as a water table rise. FLUTe provides the MLS systems, the pressure transducers, and the data reduction systems for ACT measurements. Typically, the customer orders ACT systems with FLUTe MLS systems. |
