Summary:Polymers are generally used as sophisticated constituents found in almost every item we use daily. A major scientific frontier of the 21st century is discovering and investigating new polymeric and solid-state materials with intriguing and potentially beneficial properties. Polymer chemistry studies how polymer molecules or macromolecules are made, characterized, and what properties they have. This chapter discusses several commonly used polymeric materials such as natural polymers, synthetic polymers, etc. Nowadays, polymers and polymer-based composites are among the most extensively used components in the industrial sector, owing to their wide range of uses, especially in the therapeutic, atmosphere, and motorized fields. This chapter summarizes the many polymers now in use and their qualities and advancements in polymer material research. To inspire further progress in this subject, the chapter concludes by addressing the primary problems currently encountered in utilizing the material polymer and giving details on the present unique prospects.
