Summary:In the context of normalized COVID-19 prevention, online teaching models have been widely adopted in higher education institutions. To assess the impact of online teaching during the pandemic on students in Sino-foreign joint programs, a quasi-experiment combining prospective and retrospective methods was designed using the Circuit Principles course at a certain university as an example. Participants were divided into online teaching and offline teaching groups, with comprehensive analyzes conducted using self-efficacy questionnaires, academic engagement scales, and final grades. The study found that the academic performance of the online teaching group was lower and there were significant differences in academic self-efficacy and engagement compared to the offline teaching group. The study revealed multiple challenges faced by online teaching, such as reduced teaching interaction, limited teaching resources, and decreased student engagement, but also provided directions and opportunities to explore new online teaching models. This paper aims to provide practical references and suggestions for online teaching in Sino-foreign joint programs during future public health emergencies.
