A multi-terahertz view of ultrafast charge density wave dynamics in TiSe2

We track the collective terahertz free-carrier response of 1T-TiSe 2 during femtosecond photo-induced melting and recovery of a charge density wave. The formation of charge order is highly sensitive to the transient excess carrier density, suggesting a strong excitonic influence.
