Summary:Scheduling of steelmaking-continuous casting production is an intractable problem, and it is generally difficult to achieve effective scheduling using a single method. In this paper, a novel scheduling method is presented for scheduling the steelmaking and continuous casting production. Combing the mathematical programming and expert system technique, and through the procedures of human-computer interaction and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, a feasible and optimized production scheduling scheme can be produced and provided to the steelmaking and continuous casting production process. The developed scheduling software based on the proposed scheduling strategy has been successfully applied in a large steel plant in China. The results demonstrate that the proposed scheduling strategy not only can satisfy the requirement of practical production, but also has broad prospects for promotion.
