Summary: | This paper analyzes CO 2 capture and storage (CCS) technology and other CO 2 mitigation options with three scenarios induced in China from three aspects: CO 2 mitigation cost, CO 2 mitigation potential and their effects on energy resources. The paper also compares CCS with other CO 2 mitigation options. The results of the analysis reveal that CCS is a potential technology to reduce CO 2 emission in China. However, there are still some problems needed to be solved, including the high cost, the tremendous extra energy consumption and so on. Hence, the possible solution to the CO 2 emission reduction in China may lie in taking various CO 2 mitigation options into account and making a better balance among them. |
