Summary:This paper present an intelligent sensor for a photoplethysmograph (PPG) using a virtual instrumentation. The photoplethysmograph is noninvasively obtained electro-optical signal widely used in the study and monitoring of the pulsations associated with changes in blood volume in a peripheral vascular bed. A smart sensor, which is an analogue circuit with LED driver, photodetector, amplifier, and low pass filter, is implemented to measure the PPG.
