Summary:In this paper, a new topology of Z-source converter based on tapped inductor is proposed. The proposed converter has two buck-boost and boost operating zones. Voltage boost factor of the proposed topology is adjusted by changing the turns ratio of the inductors. In the proposed converter, the shoot-through switching state and the front-end diode of the impedance network are eliminated. Other advantages of the proposed topology are buck and boost capability and elimination of the output filter. This topology can be utilized in dc-dc, ac-dc, dc-ac, and ac-ac conversions. In this paper, the operating principles of the proposed structure in dc-dc conversion are given in details. In order to reconfirm the results of the mathematical calculations, the simulation results are presented.
