Summary:Loop management is a broad subject that arguably could include design and configuration, tuning, performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, maintenance, change management and perhaps a few other subject areas as well. However, once the components of a control loop have been specified and installed, the one of the biggest challenge for the owners of the control loop assets is balancing the process/business benefits achieved through appropriate loop performance against the maintenance and resource costs of delivering that performance. This is a complex task because it involves an understanding of many aspects of business and technology. The presentation and paper is intended to discuss some of these aspects and how technology and tools can help to address some of these issues for the people responsible for managing these assets.
