Summary: | Remote sensing of different soils is made significantly easier if their dielectric characteristics are known. One of the ways to determine this dielectric behavoiur is to conduct laboratory studies to estimate the individual contribution of each factor responsible for it into the radio thermal emission of soils. The measurements of the permittivity of soils have shown that the variation of permittivity with moisture content depends on salinity. The moisture value at transition region was found to be higher for high salinity soils then for pure soils. Pure sands and soils were studied. Measurements of permittivity samples were made in a waveguide at differ of frequencies in the microwave range. The distilled water and a solution of salts were used for moisting the soil samples. |
