Heterogeneous mechanism of an electrical breakdown in liquid dielectric

The generation and evolution of a gas cavity on an electrode during electric breakdown of a liquid dielectric were investigated. The additional mechanism of an energy release in the pulsed cavity, the possibility of cathode streamer generation, and its connection with cavitation are also discussed.
