Summary:The possibility to shape the pulses modulating the static array excitations has been considered as an additional degree of freedom in the design of time modulated linear arrays. Two different kinds of pulses have been taken into account, namely trapezoidal and TDRC pulses, characterized by a linear and non-linear transition between the on and off states. The numerical results has shown that the shaping of the modulating waveforms allow to yield a significant reduction of the sideband losses as compared to ideal rectangular pulses.
