Comparison of SSSC and TCSC Performance in Steady State Voltage Stability Improvement

This paper compares the steady-state voltage stability of two Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) controllers, the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) and the Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC). The IEEE 14 bus system with Power System Analysis Tools (PSAT) software is used...

Summary:This paper compares the steady-state voltage stability of two Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) controllers, the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) and the Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC). The IEEE 14 bus system with Power System Analysis Tools (PSAT) software is used in the smart grid. A comparison of active and reactive power losses in power transmission and distribution lines with and without FACTS is also provided.
