Summary:The incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in home automation systems is revolutionizing how individuals interact with smart environments and how we different devices can interact in a compatible manner inside our smart homes. KNX, a wide world home automation standard, offers end-to-end management of home and buildings devices including lighting, heating, appliances, HVAC systems, and security systems. Nevertheless, conventional interfaces necessitate interaction by the user via mobile applications or web portal interfaces that have traditional and limited user experience. This work considers the application of artificial intelligence-enriched Natural Language Processing (NLP) to create a natural conversational interface for KNX-based smart home systems. The proposed model enables users to converse with their home automation system using natural language, throw text, thus enhancing user experience and personalization. Using KNX Virtual together with the XKNX library ensures the implementation of a simulated environment intended to test and optimize the AI-based control system before applying it to real-world deployments. Our findings indicate that NLP-based AI significantly improves user experience so that users can enjoy smooth and intelligent interactions with smart home devices like human-to-human interaction.
